She doesn't know anything about her father, the only thing she has from him is a pendant that he gave to her mother when they were together. She grew up under the care of her aunt Griselda's. Maite worked as a waitress in her aunt restaurant. One day that she goes to the fair with Adolfo Valladolid (Gerardo Munguia) and he tries to rape her, but Magdalena (Rossana San Juan) defends her from his sexual attack. Magdalena’s action starts a friendship with the two woman and they become best friends. Adolfo rapes Maite and she ends up pregnant. Griselda tells Luis Antonio what had happened and he goes and seeks revenge. Jacinta (Raquel Olmedo), Adolfo’s mother, accuses Luis Antonio of attacking her son and he is sentence to serve time in jail.

Adolfo decides to marry Manola Linares (Chantal Andere) but Maite interrupt the wedding ceremony and tells everybody that he is her baby’s father. Maite is forced to married Adolfo to protect Luis Antonio from Adolfo and his mother cruelty. Maite gives birth to a beautiful daughter, Valeria (Susana Diazayas). Jacinta forces Maite to leave the house, but without her daughter. Jacinta manage to take Valeria under her care. Maite goes to Mexico City and there she begins to make a plan to get revenge and recover her daughter.
