Years pass by and Cecilia becomes a woman to whom her aunt Evangelina does not allow to go out like her friends and does not let her have a boyfriend. Cecilia meets Joaquin (Raul Magana) who falls in love with her. He asks her to married him and she accepts with the purpose of liberating herself of her aunt's hold.

When Joaquin goes to Cecilia's home to ask for her hand in marriage, Evangilina poisons him. After that, Evangelina becomes more controlling and crueler with Cecilia. In an insane impulse Evangelina pushes Natalia down the stairs. Natalia confesses to Cecilia that she is her true mother but Evangelina obligated her to give her up to be raised by her brother. Evangelina continues to commit insane actions and Cecilia will pay the consequences of Natalia stealing the love of her life.

Natalia has diabetes and Evangelina causes Natalia to fall in coma. Evangelina in a craze injects a double dose of insulin into Natalia that caused her death. When Evangelina is ready to destroy Cecilia, Julio (Fernando Lujan) appears. Julio is a priest and the true father of Cecilia. He becomes Cecilia's protector and she believes that with his help they will end the bonds of sorrow which has impeded them to be happiness.
