Candy (Jacqueline Bracamontes), on her fifteenth birthday meets the man of her dreams, Patricio (Valentino Lanus). Patricio becomes an obsession for Candy, he became everything for her and her thought and dreams are all of him. Patricio became her boyfriend but he is also her father’s boss. Candy has two sister Alicia (Fabiola Campomanes) and Veronica who she shares everything with them. With time Alicia moves to Tijuana while Veronica stays behind. Veronica passes away due to a liposuction that goes wrong.
Candy and Patricio decide to get married a week after Alicia’s 18th birthday. At the bachelor party Patricio and Alicia sleep together. The wedding continues as planned and Patricio and Candy get married. Candy’s joyous day was devastated when she finds Patricio and Alicia kissing. Candy with a broken heart decides to go live in Guadalajara with her uncle Meño (Manuel "Flaco" Ibañez). Candy asked her uncle to help her disappear by him letting everyone they know that she was dead. Candy later finds out that she is pregnant. Patricio and Alicia merry and she is always upset with Patricio because he has not been able to forget Candy.
Santiago (Jaime Camil) is a plastic surgeon who is married to Paulina (Karla Alvarez). Paulina gets pregnant and does not stop working, even after Rocio (Mariana Lodoza), their daughter is born. Santiago is upset because Paulina puts her work first than her family. Eventually Paulina moves to New York to live, abandoning Santiago and Rocio.
Candy has her son who she baptizes as Salvador, Chava (Robin Vega) how she calls him. She names his Salvador (savior) due to him being her savior. Candy works at her uncle Meño's restaurant. Meño is homosexual which the reason that their family has disowned him is.
Seven year after Candy’s weeding; she is still living in Guadalajara. Candy becomes very involved in her sons life that she becomes her son’s soccer coach. Chava’s best friend is Beto (Diego Ramirez), Soledad’s son (Andrea Torre); Soledad becomes Candy’s best friend.
Santiago starts a clinic in Guadalajara where he meets Candy because they find themselves working at the same building. At first Candy hates Santiago but with time that hatred develops into a strong attraction. Santiago is confused due to his feeling toward Candy and for Marissa (Sabine Moussier) his girlfriend.
Beto is an illegitimate son of Patricio, he was a product of an affair that he had when Candy and Patricio were dating. When Patricio moves to Guadalajara he discovers that Beto is his son. Patricio begins spending time with his son and Soledad, bringing Candy and Chava closer to him.
Santiago as well as Raul (Carlos de la Mota), Marissa’s brother falls in love with Candy even though she just sees him as friend even though he insists in her becoming his girlfriend. Raul and Candy were introduced by Meño by having Raul publish an article that Candy wrote. After the article was published Candy get s a job offer at the magazine writing her own column "The Dumb One’s Don’t go to Heaven."
Santiago tried to establish a relationship with Candy but she wants nothing to do with him, even though she is still in love with him. Candy will have to decide who her heart belongs to Patricio or Santiago.
